BB.5 - History of Adult Animation Part 2 - Heavy Metal vs Rock & Rule

Welcome to Part 2 Electric Boogaloo! This is the second episode of our running series on the history of animation geared towards adult audiences. On this BB we move out of the 1970s to talk all about two classic, music infused, animated films from the 1980s: "Heavy Metal" (1981) and the VERY underrated Canadian film, "Rock & Rule" (1983). Both movies have an impressive line-up of both musical and voice talent, not to mention the incredible and varying animation styles, but ONE of these films definitely stands the test of time better than the other. Take a listen and check out the links below!

It's BB time! This Borchelli Bite is the first in a series of short episodes devoted to discussing the history of adult animation (animation geared toward adult audiences). Today's episode starts us off in the 1970s with the release of Ralph Bakshi's interpretation of R. Crumb creation, "Fritz the Cat" (1972) and leads us to the beginning of the 1980s with another Bakshi classic, "American Pop" (1981). We take a look at the career development of this animation icon and reflect on the controversial Fritz through a modern lens. Take a Listen!

BB.3 - What's the deal with M. Night Shyamalan?

In this Borchelli Bite we put M. Night Shyamalan's career under the microscope! Okay, let's be honest... this is more of a cathartic bitch session. At one time he was the most successful up and coming director in Hollywood, with great films like The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, but he has since plummeted from grace and made some of the worst pieces of garbage in movie history. We have a great time trashing him as a filmmaker but we also want to give credit where credit is due. Having found some recent success with low budget films like The Visit and Split, we ask the questions ..is M. Night Shyamalan back? Was he even talented to begin with? Take a listen!

WARNING: Major SPOILER ALERT for the film Split!

We are very excited about his upcoming film, Glass <--Click to read more!
